Yesterday I read an interview on izea.com with fellow San Diegan Lori Lange, founder of Recipe Girl, and now I can’t stop thinking about food words. Why? Lori says her favorite food word is drizzle. Drizzle! It even sounds fun, and those double z’s suggest that something delicious is about to hit your tongue.
Drizzle, rich, earthy, steamy, creamy, bursting…the list goes on. What are your favorite words to describe the foods you eat and prepare?
You’re so funny. I do like the word “drizzle.” It’s even in my current post… where I DRIZZLED cream cheese glaze over my Cinnamon Roll Pancakes, lol!
Thanks for stopping by! I’m busy brain storming recipes that require even the merest hint of drizzle. Until then I’ll have to fall back on my usual lexicon of earthy, hearty and rich (with an occasional robust thrown in for good measure).
Ohhh fun post! Let’s see..
Simmer, saute, chiffonade, ribbons (in reference to pasta, warm cheese creating strings from whichever food it happens to cover or julienned anything), and smothered. There are a billion more – I’m sure I’ll come up with 5 better ones later 🙂
Love those! Sauté is a favorite of mine, too.
I like saucy, sizzling, peppery, gooey and crisp.
Love your blog, Gonzo Gourmet! And how did you get that cute custom blog theme?!? Some of my favorite foodie words: ZEST!, scald (think Fried Green Tomatoes, “Boy, you got a good scald on that chicken.”), coulis… I know there are more than that!
Thanks! I found my blog designer on etsy.com – her contact info is in the footer below. And I LOVE your food words, especially scald, thanks for stopping by.
I like a lot of Japanese words as they are onomatopoeic and so describe the food really well kari kari (crispy) tsuru tsuru (slippery) but drizzle is also a favourite ^_^
Sasa, thanks for the comment, what beautiful food words, kari kari is so much better than crispy!
