The San Diego Food Blogger Bake Sale

I’m a disaster when it comes to baking. So naturally, when the lovely and talented Amanda over at The Cilantropist asked if I’d take part in San Diego’s Food Blogger Bake Sale, I enthusiastically replied yes (all the while keeping my mediocre baking skills to myself…until now).

The Food Blogger Bake Sale is part of a national effort to end childhood hunger. Founded by Gaby of What’s Gaby Cooking, and organized locally by Marie from Meandering Eats, all proceeds directly benefit Share Our Strength. Last year’s bake sales raised more than $1 million. Wow! Those funds go to help the nearly 1 in 4 American kids facing hunger every day. Think about that latte that got you through your morning commute, then consider how that $4 would help stamp out one kid’s hunger. Pretty powerful.

This year’s Food Blogger Bake Sale takes place May 14th. Show your support by heading over to Great News! in Pacific Beach. I’ll be there along with a host of other local food bloggers from 10:00am-2:00pm. And while I can’t promise my cookies will be as pretty as what Amanda is planning, or the treats that Kelly of Sass & Veracity has in mind, I can promise chocolate.
