San Diego Food Blogger Bake Sale: A Trial Run

The San Diego Food Blogger Bake Sale is ten days away, so naturally I had to start practicing my baking skills, which tend to fail me with alarming regularity. Last time I made cookies was two years ago; they emerged from the oven with the texture of a brick, and I’ve since shied away from any recipe that begins with “preheat your oven to 350 degrees.” But with the Bake Sale looming large, and little gg begging to cook with me, there was no better time than the present to whip up a batch of these gooey, chocolaty cookie bars, fondly known in my family as Congo Bars.

If you’d like to taste one for yourself, RSVP yes to the San Diego Food Blogger Bake Sale. Hope to see you there!

Thank you! I finally had to get rid of them last night before I ate the entire pan.

She loved baking and eating them, although she did tell me she liked the chocolate chips better than “the bread part.”
