If you want to elevate your pizza game to the next level, check out Ken Forkish’s The Elements of Pizza. Filled with step-by-step photos, how-to’s and tips (not to mention recipes), this is the ideal cookbook for the pizza lover on your holiday list.
Imagine making artisanal pizza at home! That’s what you’ll learn after reading The Elements of Pizza. Forkish even goes into various pizza styles, from Roman pizzarias to New York-style pizzas to pan pizzas and more.
Chapter 3 is worth the price of the book alone. “Eight Details for Great Pizza Crust” is Forkish’s way of holding your hand throughout the entire dough-making process so that you can perfect the crust, the “foundation” of the best pizzas. The second half of the book is devoted to recipes for everything from New York Cheese Pizza to Meatball Pizza (!) to a Fennel Sausage & Onion Pizza that includes a recipe for making fennel sausage from scratch.
That is true pizza devotion.
If you’re lucky enough to live in Portland, Oregon, be sure to check out Ken Forkish’s artisanal bread and pizza cafes. But if you, like the rest of us, need a DIY approach to building the perfect pie, you won’t go wrong with The Elements of Pizza.
Buon Appetito!
