How to Quickly Shred Chicken

quick-fast-shredded-chicken-whisk-cleaver.

Shredded chicken is one of those kitchen tasks I dread. It seems to take forever, and while I love the texture of shredded chicken over chopped in soups, I always give up in defeat as I watch the minutes ticking away, with me seemingly further than closer to my goal of shredded chicken.

But today is a turning point for me: fast shredded chicken. It’s a bit chilly today in San Diego and I have leftover chicken from a BBQ, so I figured a pot of chicken tortilla soup would hit the spot. I prepped the ingredients after lunch, but stopped in my tracks as I sighed and stared at those perfectly grilled chicken breasts. Undaunted this time, I headed to my iPad and found this YouTube video from CandidMommy, who shares her super fast trick for shredding chicken.

The secret? Your KitchenAid mixer. Pop on the paddle attachment, dump the chicken into the mixing bowl, and shred away on medium to medium high speed. Watch as you go, but within moments you’ll have perfectly shredded chicken. Fast, easy and totally worth the extra bowl in the dishwasher.

This tip is a game changer for me. Let’s cook!

I know – I feel like I need to watch a bunch of YouTube videos to see what I’m missing with the mixer.
